According to a report fromб═Bloomberg, Apple soon plans to launch a new retail store trade-in program that encourages customers to trade-in their old iPhone in exchange for a new iPhone 5 at a reduced price. Apple has offered a similar program online in the past, but given customers willing to give up their older devices gift cards rather than instant credit.
Used iPhones collected in the U.S. will only be resold in emerging markets, where AppleБ─≥s share is lower and demand for cheap devices is greater, said one of the people. That way, the resale of AppleБ─≥s older models wonБ─≥t cannibalize iPhone 5 sales in the U.S., the person said.
